wTuesday, December 18, 2001 yay! My icky bank credited the funds and reversed (provisionally) all the overdraft charges. Big excitement here at the JustMary house. I can buy FOOD. Like, meat, even. I have most of my course books and I've even read some of 'em. My marine science class -- The Marine Environment -- will be great. I get to do a paper for it too, on my own topic, which I've already picked (that wacky dinoflaggelate, Pfiesteria, of course.) My other classes are requirements for my major, which I'm not thrilled about -- 2nd quarter Ochem and intro physics. I'm going to make the best of it, however. "yes of course I want to learn reaction mechanisms I'll never go near again in my life." I'll have to fix this attitude before the class starts. Heh. In other news I hate my bank right now. They double-debited a $655 check and 7 days after notifying them, they still haven't fixed it. On a student budget, that hurts. A lot. They assert it must be the merchant's fault, the merchant asserts they didn't do it. When I reported it, they ordered copies of the checks instead of recording it as a dispute. When I called last friday, they couldn't figure out why the "backoffice" hadn't put the funds back in my account, but they didn't notice the mistake. It was only today when I called again, that they picked up on it and realized the error of a week ago when I first reported it -- THAT THEY DIDN'T REQUEST THE PROBLEM BE INVESTIGATED. Meanwhile I'm overdrawn, living on lentils, brown rice, and oatmeal. Cat food is starting to look interesting. I'm too freakin old for this. posted by Just Mary at 1:26 PM 4 comments
